The community economic development director explained a sequence of investigative steps and repairs taken after the municipal pool developed a leak. Staff scoped drains with a camera, cut asphalt, installed new 4-inch schedule-80 pipes, puttied and cemented drains, repaved and repainted, and conducted controlled refills, but the pool continued to lose water and remained closed.
"We got it up to 5 feet. We didn't wanna go using too much water. And then an hour a little over an hour to an hour and 0.5, we lost an inch and 0.5 of water again," the community economic development director said, describing repeated tests that failed to identify a definitive repair. She recounted earlier problems in 2020โ2023 with broken couplings and said crews tried dye tests, vacuuming and additional camera inspections without conclusive results.
Staff said an additional repair idea is pending volunteers' availability and that scheduling constraints may delay work until September or October. The director said the town has relied on YMCA lifeguard management and an outside pool professional for operations.
