Town dock project gets no bids; director seeks HUD flexibility to finish work

The community economic development director told the committee the town received no bids for the town dock project and that the engineer's portion had consumed the project's available funds. She said she had a phone call with HUD to ask whether some HUD money could be used to complete remaining tasks, but that addressing a contractual issue dating to 2017 may be required.
"The town dock project hit a stag. We didn't receive any bids, and I had a phone call today with HUD because we ran out of money with the, engineer to find out if we could use some of that money to finish and get that out," the community economic development director said. She said one option would be to finish the work and later modify voluminous contract documents, but that staff needs to resolve the 2017 issue first.
The director said she will pursue HUD guidance and report back to the council; no bids were available to move the work forward at this meeting.
