An agency official described the vendor selection and technical scope: "This brings us up to what we call phase 2 for our SCADEC, system upgrades," and said Metropolitan Pump Company is the preferred provider for repairs and implementation. The official noted older components were reaching the end of their expected life and that variable-speed controllers typically last "overall average 10 to 12 years."
Officials said a recent emergency failure left the water tower operating at roughly a quarter capacity and required about 36 hours to restore full service. Staff recommended replacing obsolete contactor-based starters with VFDs and installing sealed stainless cabinets to reduce future downtime. The council did not take a final purchasing vote during this meeting; staff will return with vendor estimates.
