Several members of the public addressed the council during the Feb. 25 public-comment period on a range of local issues.
Cynthia Crenshaw requested next steps to rename a street after Cecil H. Parker near Parker School and was directed to the City Clerk's office for the application process. Wilma Frank spoke on housing and expressed support for housing taxes; council members said they would follow up with the Buildings Department on roof and housing-related issues. Shez Darden and Commissioner Debbie Burrell-Butler commented on rapid infrastructure and expansion programs and were asked to provide additional information to the council.
Retired firefighter Michael Figuerou described his disability and requested the council's support on a "207-a" matter; council members noted the issue is in litigation and suggested offline follow-up while thanking him for his service. Imani Lawrence reiterated concerns about surveillance and data protections and referenced prior emails to council; Councilwoman Cathlin Gleason said the county executive told the council that camera images "do not store camera images on a cloud it is a physical storage" and that she would "get clarity from the county executive." Councilman Andre Wallace said he and other officials had visited relevant facilities and would continue to seek information.
Council members supplied procedural guidance (for example, directing Ms. Crenshaw to the clerk for the renaming application) and committed to obtain documentation and follow up with the public speakers.
