Council to apply for full grant to rebuild deteriorating recycle-center building

City staff told the council they will apply for a regional solid-waste grant to rebuild the recycle-center building, which staff described as deteriorating and unsafe for equipment and weather protection. The proposed replacement would sit on the current slab; quotes for a 40-by-60 structure were discussed and staff said the grant would cover the cost with no local match required.

"We're gonna apply for the grant to try and rebuild that recycle center," a staff member said, adding that the current building is "about to fall down" and that the new structure would make operations safer. Staff reported they had gathered contractor quotes and believed the grant program fit the project cost range; the item was advanced for application and further grant work.
