Board approves $10,000 cost-share for USFWS Partners habitat work at Big Bend WMA

The Dallas County Conservation Board authorized the director to sign a landowner agreement (IAPLO-FY26-JS-01) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partner groups to support cedar removal and habitat work at Big Bend Wildlife Management Area near Redfield. Director Curt Cable told the board DCCB’s share of the project cost is $10,000; other partners, including Pheasants Forever and the National Wild Turkey Federation, will collectively pay $20,000. The habitat retention period in the agreement is scheduled to end on June 25, 2036.
Kari Johns moved to approve the agreement and Dave Kraayenbrink seconded; all members present voted "aye," and the motion carried. The Board authorized the Director to sign on the Board’s behalf and will coordinate with partner organizations and the selected contractor to complete the work.
