Omak Park Board recommends changing 'relocate' to 'rehabilitate' for Buell Stephan’s Veteran’s Memorial Park

The Omak Park Board voted unanimously on June 9, 2026 to recommend an amendment to the city’s Comprehensive Park Plan that would change wording about Buell Stephan’s Veteran’s Memorial Park from “relocate” to “rehabilitate.” City Planner Kurt Danison told the board that "the only change needed was to change the word “relocate” to “rehabilitate” on page 16." Park Commissioner Kelly Cariker moved to adopt the wording change; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. A letter adopting the change will be forwarded to the Omak City Council.
Board Chair Pat Pruitt opened the new-business item at the meeting and the board recorded the action as a recommendation rather than a final city decision; the City Council will receive the board's recommendation for formal adoption. Attendees listed in the minutes included Park Commissioners Pat Pruitt (chair), Melissa Little, Kelly Cariker and Nikki Watts; Commissioner Betty Cleveland was listed as absent. The meeting began at 5:03 p.m. and adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
