Staff announced the town has contracted a local bookkeeper, Meredith Roth, to reconcile accounts and work from the 2024 audit forward to bring the books up to date.
"Her name's Meredith Roth. The company is Meredith Roth bookkeeping," the administrator said, adding that Roth will prepare profit-and-loss statements and a balance sheet to help staff and council assess prior-year expenditures and outstanding transactions.
Council discussed longstanding practice under the charter (section 5.8) for monthly treasurer reports and whether those reports or an audit committee meet the charter's intent. Members asked staff to provide examples of previous monthly reports to restore regular financial oversight and requested that the new bookkeeper's reconciliations be presented at future meetings.
