"Earlier this year, my office requested additional space for employees...this is a space that is held at 160 Claremont by the district attorney's office," the Solicitor General told commissioners, outlining that the lease extends into 2030 and that assuming it would allow the Solicitor General's office to consolidate from two separate leases. The solicitor also said moving into the longer lease could produce county savings of around $900,000 over time.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about consolidation, landlord differences and funding sources. Commissioner Johnson confirmed the move would allow the Solicitor General to vacate the other two leased spaces. Chair led a motion to approve the request; the committee voted by voice and the Chair announced the motion carries.
Next steps noted by staff: administrative steps to execute the lease-assumption agreement and confirmation of funding sources for the remainder of 2026. The committee did not request additional appropriations for 2026; the Solicitor General said the office expects existing funds to cover the remainder of the year if the board approves the assumption.
