Council accepts federal-state funding to secure conservation restriction at 71 Bennett Road

Liz Murphy, executive director of Community Development & Planning, presented the petition and related documentation and the Council accepted the report by roll call vote 10–0. The order (027-26) authorizes use of USDA Forest Service grant funds, routed through the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, in the approximate amount of $667,800 for the purpose of acquiring the conservation restriction.
The petition materials listed a grant conservation restriction and related documents that were placed on file with the City Clerk’s Office. The order was accepted by the Council and later signed by the Mayor on Feb. 19, 2026. Council records show the matter was considered under the City Property Committee report and the Finance Committee orders for FY 2026.
