"A new approximately located library would provide a safe place to go after school for study, group meetings, and library programs," Hubie said.
Other speakers echoed that appeal. Sarah Wine (speaker 12) recounted using the library since 1978 and said it has been an essential hub for walkable access and student needs. Douglas Reeves (speaker 16) and Joe Ward (speaker 17) also told commissioners a relocation several miles away would harm the local community's access to library services. The board heard the comments during the public comment period; the matter was discussed later in other business and will be part of ongoing planning between county, school system and city partners.
