Laura Kent Donahue elected chair of State Board of Elections; vice chair selected

During the nomination, a board member noted, "As most of you know, Laura served as a state senator from 1981 to 2003," and said she is respected across party lines.
Chair Cassandra B. Watson formally stepped down and told Donahue, "Laura, you step into chair status." The board then moved to name a vice chair; a motion was made to nominate Rick (transcript shows variants "Turvin" and "Turban") as vice chair, the motion was seconded and accepted by voice vote. Board members offered brief congratulations after the transitions.
The changes were procedural and completed by unanimous voice consent without a roll-call tally recorded in the transcript. The new leadership will serve through June 30, 2027.
