Resident urges commissioners to keep Athens Drive library in its current community

"I'm here speaking in favor of keeping the replacement Athens Drive Public Library near its present location within my community," LaRae said. She described civic assets nearby — the Crowder Nature Center, Lake Johnson Park and Athens Drive High School — and suggested the new library could be integrated with greenway access to increase foot and bike traffic and offer programs modeled on other greenway-connected libraries.
LaRae thanked commissioners who had met with community members on site and invited additional site visits. She emphasized the desire that the new facility remain in the neighborhood it currently serves and proposed that the county consider locations that preserve community connectivity and civic programming.
