At the Jan. 6 conditional‑use hearing, multiple residents told the Gilpin Township board they feared logging traffic on Janetta Road would endanger people and animals and urged the board to require clear safety and supervision measures.
Josh Wright, who said he lives at 267 Janetta Road, asked whether project supervision or road safety enforcement would be the responsibility of the Southern Armstrong Police, the project superintendent, or the township — and who would pay for any police presence. "Our dog was in fact hit on the road by someone working down at the camp," Wright said, describing an earlier incident and arguing that contractor traffic poses a continuing hazard.
Gary Hall asked that taxpayers not be left to pay for supervision or other costs tied to the private project. Sarah Lubecki, a nearby resident, questioned the applicant's past conduct and said the project's "attitude of we're doing it whether you like it or not is really gross," urging that any approval include enforceable safety measures and oversight.
Board members acknowledged those concerns and noted the board can set hours and other permit conditions; no conditions were adopted at the hearing. The board closed public comment and will issue a written opinion within 45 days.
