Vineland keeps Chestnut Avenue four lanes, adds left‑turn lanes, sidewalks and an 8‑foot shared path

Beth Grasso of Panoni Associates presented the revised Chestnut Avenue design, saying the team replaced the earlier road‑diet with a plan that keeps four travel lanes and adds protected left‑turn capacity. "That has since been changed to convert the 4 lane multi lane highway into a 4 lane thoroughfare with 12 foot wide dedicated left turn lanes at the signalized intersections," Grasso said, describing the principal change.
The design also calls for pedestrian and bicycle separation: "we're gonna install a 5 foot wide sidewalk and a 8 foot wide shared use pass on the eastbound and westbound sides of the roadway respectively," Grasso said. Engineers said signals on the corridor will be upgraded, ADA curb ramps replaced, lighting improved and drainage infrastructure upsized. The project team has submitted 60% plans and will prepare cost estimates before bidding work for an anticipated construction start in mid‑2027.
