Wake County proclaims March as Women’s History Month; local organizations accept recognition

Janetta Harrell, founder and executive director of the No Woman No Girl Initiative, accepted the proclamation and said the need for access to hygiene products in Wake County is rising; she told the board her organization served more than 5,000 women and girls in 2025. "The need at Wake County continues to rise," Harrell said, urging continued support. Gay Williams, president of the League of Women Voters of Wake County, said the county league has a long, nonpartisan history of voter engagement; Kimberly Williams, president of the Raleigh chapter of Links Incorporated, outlined the chapter’s volunteer hours and program areas.
Commissioners praised the organizations and used the moment to underscore the county’s commitment to diversity and services that support women and girls.
