Dustin McClain, department head for the 9‑1‑1 communications center, presented the June and July 2026 month‑end reports to the Board of Public Safety and answered questions about staffing and training. McClain said the center is "four positions down" but has trainees near completion and plans to open a new hiring pool to fill additional seats.
"We currently are 4 positions down," McClain said, and described that training takes about six months. Board members accepted the month‑end reports and placed them on file by unanimous vote. McClain also advised the board that a storm was expected later that day (approximately 1–4 p.m.) and urged caution on the roads.
