Tiburon authorizes $195,000 contract with auditors to finish overdue audits

Tiburon staff asked the council to authorize a professional-services agreement with Rogers Anderson, Melody & Scott LLP ("RAMS") to help complete the town's delayed financial audits. Council approved the contract by roll call.
Staff said the FY2024 audit work is scheduled to begin Aug. 17, with financial statements anticipated by the end of October. "The fiscal year 2024 audit is actually scheduled to start on August 17, and, we're hopeful that, financial statements will be presented to council by the end of October," staff reported. RAMS will provide on-site support, work with the auditor and help the town complete FY2024–26 audits if slots become available.
A public commenter urged faster turnaround and recommended a standing independent financial-oversight body. Councilmembers said they want more regular monthly revenue and expense reports in addition to the contracted audit work. The motion to authorize the town manager to execute the agreement for a not-to-exceed amount of $195,000 carried with Fredericks, Ryan, Vice Mayor Nick Farr and Mayor Wellner voting yes; one member was absent.
