Supervisors approve DOT funding agreement for 189th Street bridge over Brush Creek

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted on Oct. 7 to approve a funding agreement with the state Department of Transportation for the planned bridge replacement on 189th Street over Brush Creek. County engineering staff said the project is on the county's five‑year plan with a planned letting on Nov. 26 and that, because the road is an "off‑system" route, the county will make local payments and request reimbursement from DOT bridge funds.
"Got a motion by Mike, 2nd by Nin to approve the funding agreement for the, bridge replacement on 189th Street over Brushy Creek as to T 85 N R 03 E," the chair said before the voice vote. The board approved the motion by voice and the chair declared the motion carried.
County engineer Jaden Chappell, Esquire, explained the reimbursement procedure and that project development and letting timelines follow standard DOT practice for off‑system roads. The engineer also noted related construction activities and imagery collection: staff used a county drone to document an overlay project north of Preston and capture the Channelworth Bridge before construction begins.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the scheduled Nov. 26 letting and continue coordination with DOT for reimbursement paperwork and project delivery.
