Commission approves Monroe County jail capacity reduction to zero

Commission staff told the commission that Monroe County correctional facility requested a reduction of its certified capacity to 0 citing long-term vacancy and the need to improve fiscal and plant conditions. Staff recommended approval to permit operational changes and future planning.
"Monroe County correctional facility is requesting a reduction of their capacity to 0 due to long term vacancy and need to improve the fiscal plant environment as well as some operational changes for future effective operations," the presenter said. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the capacity reduction on voice vote.
