Traffic committee proposes no-stopping zones on North Grove, parking changes on East Merrick Road

Clerk (speaker 2) explained that heavy commercial traffic near North Grove Street and East Merrick Road prompted a recommendation to place no-stopping/no-parking anytime signs on the east side of North Grove between East Merrick and adjacent streets to improve flow.
Committee members and staff also discussed the Fairview Avenue approach near a new school, where residents reported unsafe U-turns and fast traffic; the committee recommended "no u-turn" signs and, in some cases, temporary cones to discourage stopping and illegal maneuvers. The packet also proposed removing a 15-minute parking space on East Merrick Road in front of a distributor and replacing it with metered spaces.
