Ocean Pines board elects Jeff Hevner president; Farr, Latham and Rakowski win other posts

The Ocean Pines Association Board of Directors elected its 2026 officers Monday, choosing Jeff Hevner as president, Rick Farr as vice president, John Latham as secretary and Monica Rakowski as treasurer.

Board members opened nominations for president, heard a single nomination for Hevner and, "hearing none," closed nominations. After the voice vote, the chair announced Hevner had "received this majority vote and is elected to the office of president," and legal counsel later certified the four officers "elected ... unanimously." The board used voice votes to approve the other officers in sequence: Farr for vice president, Latham for secretary and Rakowski for treasurer.

Hevner thanked outgoing leaders and accepted the duties. In brief remarks following his election he praised the association's staff and governance and described what he said was a stronger financial position for Ocean Pines. "Retained earnings approaching $3,000,000," he said, and cited "well funded reserves of around 6.4 million dollars" and an operating fund result of "around $450,000" last fiscal year. Hevner also outlined capital priorities he expects the board to consider, including replacement of the Southside Firehouse, renovation of the Beach Club and a new golf course irrigation system.

The elections were followed by routine administrative confirmations and an immediate transfer of meeting leadership to the newly elected president. Meeting minutes will record the voice votes and the certification by counsel.
