The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved two new‑construction applications (LPC24‑0976 and LPC24‑09725) on Jan. 27 for paired single‑family houses on vacant lots in the Addislip Park Historic District after applicants revised designs to address prior commission concerns.
Saba Binomara presented substantially revised proposals that introduced variation between the two houses (one Colonial, one Tudor/medieval revival), steepened rooflines, lowered basements, reduced front‑yard paving and added a planted grass center strip in paired driveways. Binomara said the changes were made to break up boxy massing and better match neighborhood character.
Commissioners praised the revisions as “night and day” improvements and recommended additional staff‑level refinements — particularly eave/gutter details and color choices — before final permitting. The commission voted to approve both applications (motions recorded and passed 7–0) with the condition that the applicants work with LPC staff on finish details and minor technical refinements.
