During roll call Miss Rankin read a public comment from Jerry Waddell expressing concern about retiree pay and asking whether raises are forthcoming: "Since the economy is in such bad shape, we the people of CERS have not received a raise in years. Is there going to be any raises in the near future?" Waddell added, "I'm 70 years old on Social Security. It's getting hard to make ends meet."
The chair acknowledged the comment and said the committee would pass it on to KPPA for consideration. The public comment was the only external input recorded at this special meeting; no trustee provided a substantive response during the session.
