Summary
At its Aug. 6 work session, the Strongsville City Schools treasurer said average meal prices rose to $4.16 and staff recommended rounding to $4.15 (a 15¢ increase); the proposal is the district's annual USDA pricing check and will be finalized through the consent process.

The board reviewed an annual cafeteria pricing update required under USDA procedures, with the treasurer reporting an average meal price increase from $3.99 to $4.16 and a staff recommendation to round to $4.15.
"The average price did increase, to $4.16, from $3.99. So, we can round down to $4.15," said Mr. Agonosti during the treasurer's report. He explained the adjustment is calculated by a USDA pricing tool and that the district may exercise a one‑year waiver in some cases, but incremental increases are less disruptive than larger, infrequent jumps.
The treasurer outlined specific changes shown in the attachment: elementary lunch moving from $3.80 to $3.95 and secondary lunch from $4.15 to $4.30; adult meals and select a la carte items will also rise by 15¢. Board members asked clarifying questions about the waiver option and the impact on families; staff noted the increases are routine and tied to inflation and USDA benchmarking.
The item will be carried forward as a formal action during the consent calendar process for final approval.
