Resident urges Meriwether County to deliver promised Primrose District fire station

During public comment on July 28, Patsy Williams of 1494 Coleman Creek Circle, Luthersville, told the Board she was speaking on behalf of longstanding residents of the Primrose District who expected a staffed fire station the county promised after a 2016 fire bond.
Williams said the district has seen significant residential growth and that she had personally lost her home in a house fire. "We could not even be 'bag people' because we did not even have a Walmart bag anymore," she said, describing the personal impact of the loss and stressing the consequence for local residents if promised fire protection is not provided. Williams told the Board she had spoken with Fire Chief Stephens, who cited concerns about water and sewer availability, and said she believed land had been donated previously for a station site and was willing to help contact adjoining property owners.
Chairman Emmett Collins and the Board listened but did not take immediate action; the comment was recorded for follow-up. Williams asked the Board to determine what happened with the promised station and to pursue options for land availability if the county determines additional property is required.
