Commissioners direct bid solicitation after Olive Street remodel estimate rises

Maintenance staff suggested some interior partition walls could be constructed by county maintenance rather than included in the contracted scope, and that HVAC controls could be deferred to a later phase to reduce upfront cost.
Commissioner William Bateson noted the architectural firm (BG) had already signed off on drawings and recommended putting the project out to bid; the board agreed and directed the prosecutor to prepare a resolution for next Tuesday to solicit bids. The minutes do not include a dollar estimate for the current bid price, only that the quote was “much higher than originally anticipated.”
The board also discussed project timeline considerations and next procurement steps; formal solicitation and any contract awards will be scheduled in upcoming meetings.
