The Village Board granted requested variations to the Unified Development Ordinance to allow a second‑story addition at 220 Somerset Road when it passed Ordinance No. 26‑O‑29 on July 27, 2026. Director of Community Development Michael Krol explained the request sought reductions to front and exterior side yard setbacks, recognition of existing impervious surface coverage and approval of an existing two‑curb cut driveway under Section 9‑10‑04(B) of the UDO.
Staff told the Board the Planning Commission held a public hearing July 8, 2026, received several inquiries but no objections, and that two members of the public spoke in support; the Planning Commission recommended approval 6‑0. Trustee Michael Mistele moved to pass the ordinance and Trustee Umberto Davi seconded; the roll call vote recorded ayes from Trustees Astrella, Boerwinkle, Davi, Mistele and Neal and the motion carried.
