County to rely on private shuttles and regional airports while Aspen runway work proceeds

In discussing operational impacts of the planned runway work, Pitkin County staff said airports in Eagle, Grand Junction and Denver will absorb rerouted traffic and that private providers and event organizers are already exploring shuttle options. "The secure busing from Aspen Airport into Denver, that would be, that's a private company called Landline that's interested in coming in and investing in that opportunity," Ryan Mahoney said, adding that private and stakeholder shuttles could continue beyond the closure.
Mahoney said the county's priority is building the airport facilities and coordinating communications; the county does not plan to underwrite a permanent shuttle service with airport funds but will convene partners, share schedule information with airlines and push a single source of truth (website/newsletter) to reduce misinformation during planning and closure.
