Disclosure director says IDIS will add filing receipts; staff to consult IT
Summary
Tom Newman told the board that IDIS currently does not auto-email filing receipts but account holders can generate receipts; IT is working on making receipts an automatic emailed response and staff will consult IT and report back to the chair and vice chair promptly.

Tom Newman, the board’s director of campaign disclosure, told members the IDIS filing system does not currently generate an automatic emailed receipt when a committee files a report, though committees can log into their accounts and generate a filing receipt manually.
"When a committee files a report, there is not an automatic response generated for them," Newman said, and added that staff have been discussing system improvements with the IT division. "I do believe one of those things would be to make the receipt an automatic response so that it would automatically be emailed to them, which would definitely help in situations like this where a committee may have thought they had filed something but had not."
Chair Watson urged a quick solution in light of repeated mail and filing controversies; Newman said he would consult IT and get back to the chair and vice chair no later than the following day with an estimated timeline for implementation.
The board directed staff to pursue a technical fix and to post guidance on the website so committees have clearer confirmation of successful filings.
