Mayor calls Octoberfest a success; promises vendor and expense breakdown

Mayor J. William Joyce described Octoberfest as a success and thanked staff, the police and fire departments, volunteers and organizer Sheila Thurmond for producing the event. "For our Octoberfest, I believe was a success from the positive feedback we got from the participants and residents," he said, citing 26 vendors, inflatables, a band and a chili cook-off.
Trustee Trotier asked for an itemized breakdown of what the Village paid for versus Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Joyce said he will meet this week with Sheila Thurmond, Steve Thurmond and others to compile a report listing each vendor, amounts paid, and the funds used for those payments. He also announced community events including Bloom Township's Spooktacular and St. Liborius Church's Trunk-or-Treat.
No formal financial report was presented at the meeting; the mayor committed to preparing the itemized vendor and expense list for board review.
