Steger approves Florence Ave. resurfacing; tentatively backs Kings Road work pending grant

Mayor William Joyce told the board the village has multiple roads rated in poor condition and singled out the 3200 block of Florence Ave. as the worst. Bids were reported as Holland ($49,000), D. Anderson ($44,000) and Iroquois Paving ($42,000); the board approved proceeding with the low bidder to complete work before winter.
"The 3200 block of Florence, from 32nd Street to 33rd Street," Assistant Superintendent Roy Stone clarified when trustees asked for specifics. Trustee Thurmond moved to approve resurfacing of the 3200 block of Florence Ave.; Trustee Kaminski seconded and a roll call vote recorded ayes from the trustees present.
Separately, Iroquois Paving quoted $102,000 to mill and resurface Kings Road from 35th Street to the village limit. Mayor Joyce sought tentative approval pending STP grant paperwork, noting Motor Fuel Tax Fund balance could cover projects if grant funds are unavailable. Trustees gave tentative approval by roll call; the mayor said he will request documentation from other contractors but expects Iroquois to remain the low bidder.
