Steger department reports: water main repairs, 193 fire calls, police training and EMA support

Director of Public Infrastructure Dave Toepper reported that in August public works repaired 19 water main breaks, completed 167 locates, performed 54 building inspections and issued 26 permits; he also said the water-tower rehabilitation work was scheduled to begin the following day. Fire Chief Mike Long reported 193 calls in August, including 153 medical and 40 fire calls, and noted four new hires and one more in processing; he also said Brendan Munoz passed the National Paramedic Exam. Police Chief Greg Smith summarized training called "Slower is Faster," interagency meetings with state and county partners, school drop-off planning, and department support for public events. EMA Chief Jason Stevenson reported three patrols, four assists to other towns and support for the 'Jimmy Palooza' benefit.
The reports provide a snapshot of staff activity and near-term projects; the board did not propose new funding requests during the session.
