Travis presented a resolution submitted by the City of Blythe calling a special election to appear on the Nov. 3 ballot after a city council member resigned. He told the board the county has an intergovernmental agreement to conduct Blythe’s elections and that the city will hold qualifying Monday the 17th through Wednesday the 19th, meeting the minimum qualifying period under state law.
Travis also noted the qualifying fee for the office is $90 and that qualifying will be coordinated with board office qualifying for the school board seats occurring during the same week. The board accepted the resolution as information by voice vote; no further action by the county board was required because the City of Blythe is the governing authority calling the election.
The board’s staff will administer qualifying and ballots as part of normal coordinated election services for municipalities.
