"I want to announce my appointment of Fay Kiaurakis as Community Center Director. May I entertain a motion to accept Fay as the Community Center Director?" Joyce asked the board before the vote. Trustee Stewart moved to approve the appointment and Trustee Hanus seconded; the trustees present—Hanus, Kaminski, Stewart, Thurmond and Trotier—voted aye. Village Clerk Joseph M. Zagone administered the oath of office to Kiaurakis.
The board did not attach specific duties or a start date during the public motion; the appointment was processed by voice vote. The mayor made the announcement during his report and the formal approval and oath were recorded in the minutes. The appointment completes the mayoral selection for the Community Center leadership following the prior director's departure.
