Beatrice schools set 2026–27 theme around literacy and MTSS, tout early gains

Superintendent Jason Alexander and district leaders presented the Beatrice Public Schools 2026–27 goals and a theme centered on literacy and a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Alexander said the district’s approach is ‘‘literacy is the foundation for success in every classroom and every subject,” and officials emphasized that MTSS will guide identification and intervention for students who need additional support.
Administrators cited kindergarten and first-grade DIBELS early-literacy screening improvements and gains in 8th-grade ELA/SCAS scores as evidence of progress; they also said the district’s projected graduation rate for the year is above 90% but not yet official. Staff described plans for a formal kickoff and staff recognition event the next morning, and thanked the district foundation for supporting theme materials and staff outreach.
