Prosecutor Doug Lloyd asked the board to refer a proposed internal reorganization to Ways and Means that would create an administrator role and two division coordinators within the prosecutor's office using current personnel rather than new FTEs. Lloyd said the changes are intended to preserve institutional knowledge and distribute workloads after long-serving staff departures.
Lloyd also outlined workload and budget concerns, saying the office had 7,654 open cases at the end of July (up 49 from the prior month), 338 new referrals last month, 110 cases charged, and 185 cases declined or diverted. He warned that a proposed 2.5% across-the-board reduction in department budgets would amount to "almost $90,000" in his office and could require layoffs or loss of legal support. The board moved and supported referring the restructure to Ways and Means for job descriptions and compensation review.
