Superintendent Dr. Meyer opened the board's budget presentation by framing the district's near-term fiscal picture and the uncertainty in the state budget negotiations.
"We're still, 4.24%. That's an increase of $363,237 for an overall 11 year $8,909,741," Dr. Meyer said while reviewing regional tax-cap comparisons and the legislative budget proposals. He emphasized both houses must agree on a final state budget before those numbers can be treated as final.
Hayden, who oversees the district's business operations, added that the executive budget proposed 1% foundation aid while one house proposed 2%, with those differences likely to affect transportation and fuel line items if they survive negotiations. Hayden also reported modest BOCES cost increases received in March and a small uptick in contracted services and bus fuel projections.
Both presenters stressed the district's planning posture: conservative revenue projections, ongoing monthly tweaks to the spending plan, and multi-year capital and staffing strategies. They said numbers will be updated when the state budget is finalized and urged the board to treat current figures as working estimates.
