Board adopts district code of conduct; member asks to review bag-size rule for Chromebooks

The board voted to adopt the district code of conduct after brief discussion. A trustee speaking from personal experience asked for a review of the dress-code restriction on bag size so students could carry district Chromebooks and calculators. "I would like it to be looked at with the dress code that we allow bags that are at least the size of our Chromebooks so that the kids can carry, like, their Chromebook and their calculator and their pouches in it," the trustee said.
Other trustees suggested letting the committees that developed the code complete their work and recommended periodic reviews. Several members favored an anonymous survey of students and teachers to assess impact; one member said enforcement changes can be revisited and amended after initial implementation.
