The motion to appoint Zinzer passed with three ayes and one no; directors then administered the oath of office so he could take his seat for the evening’s budget discussion.
Zinzer, who introduced himself during the public interviews as Drew Zinzer and noted his work in business operations and community volunteer service, said after being sworn in that he would "well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter." The vote followed a series of ballots in which other nominees — including Konya Vivanti, Jody Rubonis, Scott Yabroff, Laurie Swanberger and Matt Anderson — were considered and then set aside by successive motions and seconders.
Directors described a difficult selection process. Director DeMarco said the board faced “tough” choices among several qualified local applicants and emphasized choosing someone who could work effectively on the district’s near‑term challenges. Director Searls and other board members said they weighed candidates’ attendance at past meetings, familiarity with the district’s budget and operational needs, and willingness to work with residents.
The new director was sworn in at the dais immediately after the successful vote. The board then recessed briefly and resumed the meeting with the next scheduled item, the public hearing on the FY 2026–27 budget.
