Council accepts $30,000 in additional traffic-safety funds from Marion County partnership

Town Manager Grant told the council that in early July the police chief received a letter from IMPD offering an additional $30,000 for the Marion County Traffic Safety Partnership, a program that runs from October through the following September. "In early July, chief received a letter from IMPD stating that they had an additional 30,000 in funding for this traffic safety partnership, which ends September," Grant said. He asked council to accept the funds so the department can use them during the remaining program period; council approved the acceptance by voice vote, 5-0.
Grant noted the partnership funding is time-limited and staff intend to expend the funds by the end of the program window. The police department will administer use of the funds and report on expenditures per existing practice.
