Council approves routine minutes, contracts and funding in unanimous votes

The Speedway Town Council approved a slate of routine items and contracts during its Aug. 10 meeting, with all recorded votes taken by voice and reported as 5-0.

Motions approved included: minutes from the July 27, 2026 meeting and the administrative memorandum of July 27 (both approved 5-0); an additional street closure for the annual Run 317 event on 14th Street (approved 5-0); an agreement with CivicPlus to rebuild and host the town website (approved 5-0); acceptance of $30,000 in additional Marion County Traffic Safety Partnership funding (approved 5-0); a quote award to DC Construction for street improvements for $134,432 (approved 5-0); a Christmann Communications/Exos proposal for camera hardware at the water-treatment plant for $16,299.70 (approved 5-0); pay request number 3 from EMB paving for the 25th Street reconstruction phase 2 for $64,317.20 (approved 5-0); acceptance of an insurance settlement of $43,752.50 for a totaled 2022 Ford Explorer including authority to execute ancillary documents (approved 5-0); and approval of claims and utility adjustments totaling $1,180,169.41 (approved 5-0).

Several motions were made and seconded from the dais and all were adopted without recorded dissents. The votes at this meeting were procedural and routine in nature; none of the recorded items in the meeting minutes required additional public hearings or second readings as part of the council discussion that evening.

The meeting concluded after department reports and councilmember remarks about community and school-zone safety.
