County finance staff (Jeff) presented budget highlights and said the general fund balance stood at about 62%, above the board's 50% goal. "We're maintaining strong fund balances, consistent with the fund balance policy," Jeff told the board while summarizing revenue and proposed position requests.
Staff noted a $500,000 decrease in expected investment revenue and outlined that some position requests, including an environmental services request, would likely be deferred unless department heads make a case at a future meeting. Jeff also reminded commissioners of a canvassing board scheduled Friday at 10 a.m. and flagged capital and human-services items that will be discussed at the next work session.
