The board on July 19 authorized advertisement of an ordinance amending zoning rules for data centers as part of a process to place a regulation before planning agencies and advance toward an October adoption deadline. Staff emphasized the advertisement step is procedural to preserve the timeline and that the ordinance text is not finished; the Community Development Committee will continue substantive work.
"We don't have a fully formed ordinance here yet," staff said, explaining further revisions and commissioner input would follow at the CDC meeting next month. The advertisement is intended to allow planning agencies to review the draft so the township can move toward an October adoption before a six‑month moratorium would take effect.
