Anna Llewellyn, a DDU parent and local captain with Schools Beyond Screens, asked the board to set developmentally appropriate screen limits, increase transparency about time spent on district devices and data practices, and strengthen protections around student-facing AI. She presented a petition signed by more than 150 parents and educators and said the district’s recently formed AI task force should be followed by independent, evidence-based review.
Martha Sue Hope said she attends policy meetings and expressed frustration that community input sometimes appears not to influence policy outcomes; she highlighted continued parental concern about bullying, saying parents "leave still concerned that their kids are being bullied and they're not being listened to." Jason Brockert delivered an emotional comment recounting long-standing unresolved issues involving his son and said he has asked repeatedly for a town hall and more direct responses: "All I've ever wanted was the truth," he said, and asked the board to reschedule the canceled town hall.
The board did not respond to the requests with specific commitments at the meeting beyond thanks for testimony; no formal board action occurred on the items.
