Facilities report: Summerville addition complete; multiple school projects finished or underway

Facilities director Jeff Smith reported Summerville Elementary’s addition is complete and occupied, Ashley Ridge renovations are in temporary occupancy, a new gym project at Summerville High is underway, Gregg Middle received nearly $2 million in roofing work, and track/tennis projects will go to bid this fall.
Jeff Smith delivered the facilities report, reviewing summer projects completed and those about to begin.
Smith said Summerville Elementary’s addition is finished and occupied: "For all intents and purposes, we're a 100% done, and we're occupying the building." He described a temporary occupancy approval at Ashley Ridge (band room, weight room, classrooms), pending a fire-hydrant relocation, and said ground has been broken for a new gym at Summerville High. Smith said the district plans to start the previously approved track project next week and expects bids for tennis courts around late September or Oct. 1.
Smith also said Gregg Middle School received substantial roofing work (nearly $2,000,000), the courtyard was completed and a gym floor replaced. He listed the Fort Dorchester classroom addition as pending contract execution and said Knightsville demolition and site preparation are expected to begin around late September or early October.
