Superintendent Dougherty updated the board on the status of a proposed educational sales tax that the county council has approved in principle for an 85/15 split over 15 years: 85% of proceeds to Dorchester District 2 and 15% to Dorchester District 4. Dougherty said the question will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Dougherty said the district will host retraining for board members about permissible conduct and communication regarding the ballot measure; he emphasized the training is education-only, not advocacy. The chair corrected a training-date misspoken by the superintendent and confirmed the retraining will take place on Aug. 24, the Monday of the next meeting.
