The Fulton City Council voted to excuse Mayor Myers from council meetings through Sept. 30, 2026 after the mayor submitted a formal health-related request.
Deputy Mayor (speaker 1) told the council Mayor Myers "is requesting formally that the city council give him a formal excusal through 09/30/2026." Councilman Henshey (speaker 2) moved to grant the excusal and the presiding officer (speaker 3) seconded; the motion passed after a brief discussion of the city's forfeiture rules for missed meetings. One council member asked about the number of missed meetings and was reminded that elected city officials forfeit office after three consecutive absences unless formally excused. The presiding officer announced, "The ayes have it. Mayor's excused."
