Council defers conditional-use request for adult day care with pickleball courts at 1498 John Robert Drive

Members of the public raised concerns about zoning interpretation, the adequacy of public notification, traffic impacts from players and visitors, and site safety. Councilmembers said the applicant's absence prevented the council from obtaining necessary clarifications. Councilman Wayne Collins moved to defer the item; the motion carried unanimously 4-0.
The mayor and council noted on the record that the Planning and Zoning Board had recommended approval but that the council's deferral was procedural so the applicant could appear in person and address security and operational specifics directly. The public hearing was closed at 7:57 PM.
No formal vote on the substance of the conditional-use request occurred; the item and its associated new-business agenda entry were deferred to a future meeting for in-person presentation and follow-up information.
