The Lorain County commissioners authorized payment of mandated shares to the Department of Job and Family Services totaling $1,085,146 and scheduled those payments across the fiscal year. A staff member explained the county typically receives a state memo outlining the county's portion and that the memo arrived late this year, so the resolution sets up a catch-up schedule from July 1 through June 30, 2027.
"This is essentially catch up," a county staff member said, describing the need to set a payment schedule after receiving the state's calculation late. The board moved and voted to approve the payment schedule during the Aug. 11 meeting.
